Emoji and emoticons

Because of the word ’emoticon’, I had thought that the word ’emoji’ was a blending of ’emotion’ and ‘ji’, and I had been wondering what ‘ji’ was. But it turns out that ’emoji’ is actually a Japanese word, which means “picture” (e) + “character” (moji). So, this is another Japanese word which has found a place in the English lexicon, and is becoming even more popular than the English-English ’emoticon’!
